Brian Leppo has been oh so close on several occasions this season. The second year sprint car driver took advantage of a good starting spot and turned it into his first career 410 Sprint car win in front of a packed house Sunday night at Susquehanna Speedway Park. Leppo led all 25 laps but had to battle heavy lapped traffic throughout much of the event before taking that elusive win. "We've been so close several times but we've had some bad luck as well," said the 25 year-old Spring Grove driver. "It feels good to win so soon in our career but we definitely took advantage of a good starting spot." Leppo lined up on the outside front row
of the 24-car field and quickly grabbed the top spot and began to open distance over Billy Dietrich during the early laps.Leppo kept the Jay's Lawn and Landscaping, Kinard Trucking, R & R Components, Walker Chiropractic No. 71 Maxim out front before encountering heavy slower traffic near the midway portion of the event. Dietrich closed the gap on the former micro sprint racer but Leppo was able to work his way through the traffic
and maintain the top spot.

Chad Layton moved by Dietrich for second place on lap 17 just as the event's first caution appeared for a spinning Scott Lutz. Leppo was able to pull Layton on the restart and moved away before catching the rear of the field once again with three laps to go.  The move of the race came when Leppo made a bold move in turn one, splitting two slower cars when another yellow flag on the final lap for a stopped Dave Cordier. "We still have a lot to learn about racing and racing in lapped
traffic but it feels good to get this win out of the way," Leppo said following the $2,500 payday. "My friend Barry Livelsberger was here tonight and helped us out. We knew with the track the way it was, we were going to be pretty good but you have to stay out front and be around at the end."

Leppo took the win by two seconds ahead of Layton, of Harrisburg with Holmesville, Ohio's Kenny Jacobs turning in his best effort since joining the Jim and Sandy Kline team finishing in the third spot.  Fourth went to Saturday night Port Royal winner Mark Smith of Newville with Susky points leader Fred Rahmer of Salfordville fifth. Jim Siegel, Don Kreitz, Keith Kauffman, Dietrich and Cris Eash completed the top 10 finishers.
Sprint car heats were won by Kreitz, Kauffman, Leppo and Rahmer. Eash and Cory Haas won the consolations for the 35-car field.
