Brian Leppo’s racing career began
at the age of 10 when he competed in go-karts.
While competing in karts, Brian was able to secure several
championships at Hunterstown Speedway.
He then moved up the racing ladder in 1997 when he started
competing in the micro sprint division.
Brian recorded 15 feature wins and many top five finishes in his
five seasons in 250cc and 600cc
Micro Sprint racing.
The 2002 season saw Brian move into the tough 358 Sprint Car
division, where he competed at Williams Grove and Lincoln
Speedway’s on a regular basis.
Lincoln Speedway is where Brian saw
the most success during his first season in the 358 class. He
finished fifth
in the final points standings earning him the
2002 “Rookie of the Year” award at Lincoln’s banquet
at the end of that season.
He had a 15th place points finish at
Williams Grove in his rookie 358 season. Last season, Brian
moved to the top echelon of local sprint car racing, taking the
family-owned Leppo Racing sprint car into the 410 Sprint Car
division.
After only one season of 358 racing under his belt, Brian knew
the 2003 season would be a major challenge but it’s where he
wanted his racing career to be.
Brian competed regularly at Lincoln, where he qualified for 18
shows out of a possible 23 attempts. His first top 10 finish in
the 410 sprints came on June 14th when he placed 10th.
Brian then added three more top 10 finishes to his record,
including an impressive runner-up finish to veteran Cris Eash on
August 16th.
That race saw Brian lead until a late race
caution allowed Eash, runner-up in Lincoln points
this season take the top spot.
Finishing 15th in final points in
his first year, Brian recently was named 2003 “Rookie of the
Year” at Lincoln Speedway in the 410 Sprint
car division.
The 2004 season found Brian capturing
his first career 410 Sprint car checkered
flag at Susquehanna Speedway Park as well
as setting fast time during five events during
the season, four at Lincoln Speedway and
one more at SSP. Brian came close to
winning several times at Lincoln and had
some fine runs at Silver Spring and Grandview Speedways. The
season would see Brian
finishing 6th in points at both SSP and Lincoln
and being named Most Improved Driver
at the Lincoln banquet.
Brian hopes the 2005 season will break him
from the "Sophomore Jinx" and he plans a full
season of racing at SSP, Lincoln and Williams
Grove as well as hitting the road a few times.
Kinard Trucking has stepped up its program
with Leppo Racing and the team looks for a
good season with some wins and a lot
of top five finishes.
Brian Leppo has what it takes to become one of the
top sprint car drivers in Central PA. He has a natural talent
behind the wheel of a sprint car, he has great support from his
entire family and the most dedicated crew in racing.
